UNION COUNTY, Ohio – A stolen vehicle pursuit early Friday morning ended with the arrest of three juveniles after a multi-agency response across several roadways in west-central Ohio.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, just after 3:00 a.m. on January 2, a trooper from the Marysville Post observed a 2015 Hyundai Sonata committing a lane violation on U.S. 33 near mile marker 18 in Jerome Township. When the trooper attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle fled, prompting a pursuit.
The Hyundai continued west on U.S. 33, exited onto U.S. 36, and then traveled onto State Route 4. The pursuit was briefly terminated for safety but later re-engaged. After multiple stop-stick deployments, the Hyundai was disabled just before 3:30 a.m. on State Route 161 near Indian Springs Golf Club in Mechanicsburg.
Three occupants exited the vehicle and fled on foot. The Hyundai was confirmed stolen out of Upper Arlington. With help from the Ohio State Highway Patrol Aviation Section and local agencies, all three juveniles were located and arrested just before 4:00 a.m.
The driver was identified as Jayden Hays, 17, of Columbus. The passengers were Carter Collins-Neill, 14, of Marysville, and Trinity Sanders, 15, of Columbus.
Hays was charged with Failure to Comply with Police, Theft Without Consent, and Obstructing Official Business. Collins-Neill and Sanders were charged with Obstructing Official Business.
All three juveniles were taken to the Union County Juvenile Detention Center. The investigation remains ongoing.
