In two separate drug busts in Himachal Pradesh, police have arrested four individuals for possession of chitta, a potent narcotic.

In the first incident, three people — Kshitij (28) from Kadiwan village, Akshat Chauhan (28) from Jarla village, and a 17-year-old minor — were caught in Umradwar village, Rohru subdivision, with 5.62 grams of chitta. Acting on a tip-off, police stopped their vehicle and seized the drugs during a search. They were immediately arrested, confirmed Rohru DSP Pranav Chauhan. A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

In the second case, Tushar Panaik (26) was arrested in Theog, Shimla, with 4.5 grams of chitta. He was intercepted while traveling by car, and the contraband was recovered during a routine check. The accused was promptly taken into custody.

Authorities said both cases are under further investigation. Officials reiterated their commitment to fighting drug trafficking in the district and urged the public to report any suspicious activities.

These arrests are part of ongoing efforts to curb the drug menace in Himachal Pradesh.
