FORT MYERS, Fla. — Three men have been arrested in separate but deeply disturbing child exploitation cases across Florida, according to state officials. One of the suspects is also accused of tampering with food at a restaurant.
Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier and FDLE Commissioner Mark Glass announced the arrests following investigations into peer-to-peer file sharing and encrypted messaging platforms.
Kevin Randall Sheffield, 42 (Naples):
On March 21, FDLE agents traced downloads of child sexual abuse material to Sheffield’s residence. A search revealed hundreds of illegal files on multiple devices. He was arrested on 10 counts of possession of child sexual abuse materials, each a second-degree felony.
Jason Grant Harrison, 46 (LaBelle, later Jacksonville):
Initially flagged on February 4, Harrison’s computer was found to contain several child porn files. After the search warrant, he moved to Jacksonville, where he was later arrested. Harrison faces three counts of possession and will be extradited to Hendry County.
Travis Lee Montgomery, 34 (Bradenton):
In a particularly disturbing case, Montgomery is charged with:
Six counts of possession of child sexual abuse material
One count of soliciting explicit images from a parent
One count of first-degree food tampering
Montgomery was flagged after authorities in Bellingham, Washington, discovered child abuse content shared via the Kik app between him and a parent now charged in Washington. Florida officials found additional files showing Montgomery allegedly performing sexual acts and contaminating food at a restaurant where he worked.
