Three Drug Peddlers Arrested in Budgam & Anantnag, Large Seizures Made

Over 21 kg poppy straw and brown sugar seized by police checkpoints

In a continued crackdown on drug trafficking, police arrested three drug peddlers in Budgam and Anantnag districts and seized a significant quantity of contraband substances.

At a checkpoint at Wadipora crossing, Police Station Chadoora officers detained Ghulam Rasool Sheikh, son of Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh, from Wadipora, Chadoora. During a search, approximately 16.05 kg of wet green poppy straw-like substance was recovered.

Meanwhile, at Churmujroo village checkpoint, Police Station Beerwah officers apprehended Sarwar Ahmad Tantray, son of Abdul Majeed Tantray, resident of Churmujroo. A search of his belongings uncovered around 5.66 kg of grinded poppy straw-like substance along with a mobile phone.

In Anantnag, Police Station Achabal intercepted a truck near Sharief Din Mohalla driven by Bilal Ahmad Mir, son of Ab Rashid Mir of Rain Arther Larnoo. Police recovered about 8 grams of brown sugar-like substance from the vehicle. Bilal was arrested, and the truck used in the crime was seized.

Police have registered cases and investigations are ongoing.
