BALI, Indonesia — Three Australian men have been charged with murder following a deadly shooting in Bali that claimed the life of 32-year-old Zivan Radmanovic, a Melbourne resident.
The attack occurred just after midnight on Saturday at a villa in Canggu, where Radmanovic was fatally shot. His friend, Sanar Ghanim, 34, was also shot and beaten but has since been released from hospital and relocated to a new apartment in Canggu.
Indonesian authorities launched a nationwide manhunt after the shooting. Former Sydney plumber Darcy Francesco Jenson, 37, was arrested at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Jakarta as he attempted to flee to Cambodia. Meanwhile, Coskun Mevlut, 23, was detained by police in Singapore. The third suspect, Tupou Pasa Midolmore, 37, was apprehended by Australian Federal Police at Melbourne Airport after fleeing Indonesia.
Balinese Police Chief Inspector General Adityajaya stated the three men were directly involved in planning and executing the shooting but did not rule out the possibility of additional conspirators.
Police have seized six motorbikes, two getaway cars, bullets, passports, money, and a sledgehammer linked to the crime. The suspects face charges of premeditated murder, which carries the death penalty under Indonesian law.
Radmanovic’s wife has consented to an autopsy, scheduled to be performed soon. The case has shocked the island’s community and highlighted ongoing concerns about violent crime in the region.
