RUSK COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU) — Authorities have taken a suspect into custody following an investigation into a scam targeting an elderly resident in rural Sheldon, Rusk County.

The Rusk County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation, probed a case involving fraudulent threats made via phone calls, emails, and text messages. The victim was financially exploited through these communications.
