In a swift operation by the Crime Branch, three men were arrested on Friday with MD drugs worth lakhs of rupees. The men, identified as Wasim Khan from Bambai Bazar, Mohammad Imran, and Dinesh Thapa from Sanjay Nagar, were caught after attempting to flee from the police, hitting the vehicle of an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) during the escape attempt.
According to DCP (Crime) Rajesh Tripathi, the Crime Branch team had been actively searching for drug suppliers in the city when they spotted a suspicious car in a ground. Upon noticing the police, the accused attempted to flee, resulting in the collision with the ACP’s vehicle. Despite the attempt to escape, the accused were apprehended.
During a search of their vehicle, the police recovered 14.34 grams of MD drugs. However, the accused have not yet disclosed the source of the drugs. The trio has been booked under Section 8/22 of the NDPS Act. Authorities also seized two mobile phones and the car used in their escape.
The investigation continues as police probe the origin of the drugs and any potential network involved in the trafficking.
