WALSALL, UK — Three individuals have been arrested and charged for multiple shop thefts in Walsall. John Scully, Verneasher Perry, and Philip Ranford appeared at Walsall Magistrates Court for their first hearings in late January, each facing multiple counts of shoplifting.

John Scully, 39, of Wilner’s View, Pelsall, was charged with 10 shop thefts, while Verneasher Perry, 51, of New Street, Rushall, faced six theft charges. Philip Ranford, 44, from Clockmill Road in Willenhall, was charged with five shop theft offences.

The arrests were part of ongoing efforts by the West Midlands Police Priority Crime Team, supported by the Aldridge neighbourhood team, to tackle shoplifting in the Walsall borough. The shop thefts have been a major focus for local authorities, prompting the launch of Operation Marigold, aimed at combating retail crime.

Authorities are committed to addressing shoplifting in the area and have seen positive results through collaboration with local businesses.
