Delhi Police have arrested three men from Bihar for their alleged involvement in the theft of Rs 55 lakh in cash and jewellery worth Rs 2.5 crore from a residence in northwest Delhi’s Model Town. The incident, reported on June 27, was masterminded by the victim’s domestic help, Arun Kumar, who is currently absconding.
The complainant, Anita Jhunjhunwala, informed police that her servant had fled with cash and valuables, including gold, diamond, and silver jewellery. CCTV footage showed Arun Kumar and an unidentified accomplice leaving the house carrying a bag and a trolley.
Following intensive investigation and tracking of digital footprints, a Delhi Police team traced the suspects to Banka district in Bihar. On July 10, they arrested three individuals—Vivek Kumar (22), Birender Yadav (22), and Piyush Kumar Kapri (29)—from a forested area near Budhighat village, where they were allegedly in the process of dividing the stolen loot.
Police have recovered a portion of the stolen property, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend Arun Kumar, believed to be the mastermind behind the heist.
