A coordinated operation by the Mizoram Excise and Narcotics Department, Central YMA’s Anti-Drug Squad, and Assam Rifles led to the seizure of 323 grams of heroin across three locations in Mizoram.
The first arrest occurred in Aizawl’s Zarkawt locality, where 22-year-old Vanlalrinawma was found with 35 grams of heroin. Subsequent raids resulted in the arrest of two more suspects: 23-year-old Agnes Lalrempuii from Bawngkawn Venglai and 31-year-old Lalngaihpuii from Diltlang, Champhai district. Authorities recovered an additional 253 grams of heroin linked to these individuals, alongside 135 grams related to the case.
All three have been charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Upon conviction, they may face up to 20 years in prison and fines ranging from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2 lakh.
