The Greater Noida police, in collaboration with the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of Meerut, arrested three people, including a woman, in connection with a major drug trafficking operation on Thursday. The suspects were caught with 5.5 kilograms of cannabis, worth approximately Rs55 lakh in the international market, near Zero Point on the Yamuna Expressway.

The gang was allegedly led by Bhaksu Kami, a Nepalese national, who had been smuggling cannabis into India from Nepal. His accomplices were identified as Dheeraj Singh Samant and his paternal aunt, Tulsi Devi. The police recovered three mobile phones, Rs2,000 in cash, and documents, including an Aadhaar card, Nepalese citizenship certificate, and other evidence, from the suspects.

Ashok Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police for Greater Noida, confirmed the joint operation by the Beta-2 police station and the ANTF, which successfully dismantled the active trafficking network. The investigation revealed that the gang had been distributing cannabis across Delhi, Haryana, Haridwar, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, and the National Capital Region (NCR), making significant profits from retail sales.

Bhaksu Kami, the gang leader, was the primary smuggler, while his accomplices, Dheeraj Singh Samant and Tulsi Devi, managed the distribution within India. Notably, Tulsi Devi was already wanted in a previous case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in Muzaffarnagar.

This bust is a significant step in combating the ongoing drug trade in the region and showcases the effective collaboration between local and anti-narcotics forces. Investigations are continuing to trace other potential members of the trafficking ring.
