Police arrested three individuals, including two women, on Wednesday for their alleged involvement in a large illegal drug racket operating from Dhobipada in the Khariar Road area under Jonk police jurisdiction.
The arrested persons are Gunja Agrawal (23), Payal Agrawal (25), both residents of Dhobipada, and Bunty Agrawal. During a raid triggered by a tip-off on Tuesday evening, police seized over 30 kilograms of ganja, 73 half-burnt bottles of codeine-laced cough syrup, 115 strips of Spasmo Proxyvon tablets, 20 strips of Nitrosun-10, and nine Pentazocine Lactate injections.
Police stated that the husbands of the two women, who are also allegedly part of the racket, managed to flee the scene. A manhunt is currently underway to apprehend these absconding suspects, according to Nuapada SP Gundala Reddy Raghavendra.
The crackdown is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle narcotics networks in the region and curb drug abuse.
