In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Commissionerate Police in Jalandhar has arrested three individuals allegedly involved in heroin smuggling. The operation, led by Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur, resulted in the seizure of 30 grams of heroin and the registration of a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The arrest took place when a team from the CIA conducted routine checks at Y-Point, Bhagat Singh Colony. As part of the checks, the police were verifying documents and monitoring suspicious movements when they intercepted three individuals. Upon questioning, it was found that the suspects were in possession of heroin.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Rohit Arora, Rakesh alias Keshi, and Sandeep alias Baba alias Lalu, all residents of Amritsar. An FIR has been filed under Sections 21, 61, and 85 of the NDPS Act.

According to preliminary investigations, the accused have multiple pending criminal cases, indicating their deep involvement in illicit activities. Police are now focusing on tracing the source of the seized heroin and mapping its distribution network, suspecting the presence of a larger drug syndicate. Further arrests may follow as the investigation continues.

Commissioner Kaur emphasized the department’s commitment to combating the drug menace and urged citizens to assist law enforcement by reporting any suspicious activities in their communities.
