Three individuals were arrested on Thursday during a search of a short-term rental house in Grant Parish, according to authorities.
The Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation and uncovered evidence indicating the suspects were planning to smuggle synthetic marijuana, THC wax, cell phones, and drones into a federal prison. Authorities reported that the group intended to traffic $3,583,387 worth of synthetic marijuana—dissolved and soaked into paper—along with $33,600 worth of THC wax, 11 cell phones, and two drones.
Daireeon Russell, 32, from San Diego, California, was arrested and faces multiple charges, including two counts of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, illegal drug use in the presence of children, possession of drug paraphernalia, and attempting to take contraband into a penal institution.
Kevin Freeman, 19, and Rani Caye Deisher, 37, both from Pineland, Texas, were also arrested on similar charges.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are continuing to gather information related to the smuggling operation.
