Three Arrested in Connection with Murder of Anthony Day Roberts

Chanel Slaughter, Deandre Wilson, and Joseph Lewis charged with murder

CAMP SPRINGS, Md. – Prince George’s County Police have arrested three suspects in connection with the murder of 24-year-old Anthony Day Roberts. The suspects—29-year-old Chanel Slaughter, 34-year-old Deandre Wilson, and 36-year-old Joseph Lewis—are all from Suitland, Maryland. They face charges including first and second-degree murder, attempted murder, and related offenses.

On the night of November 8, 2023, at approximately 9:40 p.m., officers responded to a shooting in the 6300 block of Auth Road in Camp Springs. Upon arrival, they found Day Roberts in the roadway with gunshot wounds and pronounced him dead at the scene. A second male victim was also found with gunshot wounds, though his injuries were not life-threatening.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects shot both victims during an attempted robbery. There was no prior relationship between the suspects and victims.

Slaughter, Wilson, and Lewis are currently in custody at the Department of Corrections. Authorities continue to investigate the case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Homicide Unit at 301-516-2512.
