COLFAX COUNTY, Neb. — Three people have been arrested on felony charges in connection with the death of Nathan Johnson, a 30-year-old man from Butler County. Johnson, who had been reported missing in November after last being seen by family on October 28, was found deceased in rural Colfax County on December 11.
Authorities initially detained three individuals in Platte County on unrelated drug and firearms charges before announcing felony arrests on Tuesday. The three suspects have been identified as Donald Newman, 62, Erika Henke, 35, and Robert Weaselhead, 47.
The trio faces charges related to the removal or concealment of human remains. Henke and Weaselhead also face additional charges for tampering with physical evidence. The arrests were made following an investigation led by the Columbus Police Department, Platte County Sheriff’s Office, and Colfax County Sheriff’s Office.
The case began to unfold when Donald Newman was found unconscious in a Columbus home on December 9 by first responders, who administered three doses of Narcan. While investigating, authorities found Newman in possession of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and oxycodone that had been prescribed to someone else. Newman was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of a firearm while committing a felony.
The investigation into Johnson’s death is ongoing, with the authorities working together across multiple jurisdictions.
