Chennai police have arrested three individuals, including a Nigerian national, for their involvement in a cocaine smuggling operation. The arrests are part of an ongoing investigation into a racket that distributed drugs to dealers and customers across the city. Since January 25, a total of 18 suspects have been arrested, including a disc jockey (DJ) and a bar manager.
Among the arrested were DJ Julian Dishan (33) of Anna Nagar East and bar manager M Arunraj (29) from Nungambakkam, who were allegedly distributing cocaine to customers visiting their bar. Authorities later inquired five of the arrested suspects, including Julian Dishan and Mayur Purot, who revealed that they had been receiving cocaine from Eko Nathanial Chibuzor, a Nigerian national.
The Anti-Narcotics Investigation Unit (ANIU) tracked down Chibuzor to a hideout in Mumbai, where he was arrested along with five grams of cocaine. He will be transported to Chennai and remanded in judicial custody.
Additionally, police acting on a tip-off arrested V Purushothaman (32) from Urapakkam and A Ramkumar Raju (37) from Thousand Lights. Authorities recovered a significant stash of drugs, including 60 grams of cocaine, 1.7 kilograms of ganja, two grams of ganja oil, four grams of original ganja, 16 mobile phones, three two-wheelers, three cars, and drug paraphernalia used for cocaine distribution.
The investigation continues as police work to dismantle the drug network operating in Chennai.
