BELL COUNTY, Ky. – Three individuals have been arrested following a burglary investigation in Bell County, Kentucky, after deputies discovered that a home had been ransacked.

At approximately 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 13, deputies received a call reporting a potential burglary at a property on Stoney Fork Road, off Highway 221. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies found 50-year-old Charles Jason Hoskins standing near the back door of the home. When the homeowner arrived, they informed the deputies that they had been working on the home and were unfamiliar with Hoskins.

According to police, Hoskins stated that he had been paid $50 by a man and woman from Pineville to give them a ride to the home. The two were later identified as 47-year-old Angela Caldwell and 40-year-old Lester Smith.

Hoskins was arrested and taken to the Bell County Detention Center. After the police had left, the homeowner, who had stayed in the house, heard movement coming from the children’s room. Upon investigation, the homeowner found Caldwell and Smith hiding inside a cupboard under a pile of clothes.

The homeowner then held Caldwell and Smith at gunpoint and contacted 911 for assistance. Officers returned to the scene and took Caldwell and Smith into custody.

Caldwell, Smith, and Hoskins were charged with engaging in organized crime and second-degree burglary. Smith also faces additional charges, including three failure-to-appear warrants, possession of methamphetamine, and promoting contraband after attempting to smuggle meth into the Bell County Detention Center.
