Bakersfield, CA – On March 3, 2025, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO), alongside the Kern County High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force (KC-HIDTA), executed multiple search warrants in Bakersfield, leading to the seizure of significant amounts of narcotics, including 44,000 fentanyl-laced pills, marijuana, and firearms.
The operation followed an extensive narcotics investigation and resulted in the seizure of over 44,000 fentanyl pills (M-30), a pound of black tar heroin, cocaine, processed marijuana, several hundred live marijuana plants, and the dismantling of an indoor marijuana grow operation.
Search warrants were executed at two locations: an apartment in the 3000 block of O Street and a home in the 300 block of 8th Street. During the search, KCSO officials arrested 26-year-old Alexander Horton and 24-year-old Alina Villarreal, both of Bakersfield, who were found with fentanyl, heroin, cocaine, and a loaded stolen firearm.
Additionally, 29-year-old Fidel Melgar-Trujillo, a resident of Sinaloa, Mexico, was arrested at his home, where authorities discovered an active indoor marijuana grow and large amounts of fentanyl pills, heroin, marijuana, cash believed to be from drug sales, and a loaded handgun.
KCSO was assisted in the operation by officers from the Kern County Probation Department and the California Highway Patrol (K-9 Unit).
Horton and Villarreal were booked into the Kern County Sheriff’s Lerdo Justice Facility on multiple charges, including possession and distribution of controlled substances, possession of a stolen firearm, and conspiracy to commit a crime. Melgar-Trujillo faces similar charges, along with marijuana cultivation.
