Three Arrested in Angela Villegas Murder Case in Atlanta

Victim found shot near cemetery; suspects face murder charges

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the killing of 20-year-old Angela Yajahira Cortes Villegas, whose body was found near Crestlawn Cemetery in northwest Atlanta last month.

On Friday, authorities arrested:

Denis Manuel Velasquez Rivera, 22

Madelin Garcia, 18

Hector Paz, 23

The arrests were made in Norcross with the help of multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Atlanta Police Fugitive Unit, Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office, Gwinnett County Police, and the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force.

Villegas, originally from Utah, was discovered shot to death in a wooded area near 2000 Marietta Blvd. NW, close to the cemetery.

All three suspects face charges of:

Murder

Aggravated assault

Armed robbery

Conspiracy to commit a felony

In addition, Garcia and Paz are also charged with felony murder.

Police continue to investigate the motive behind the killing.
