ACCRA, Ghana — Police have arrested three suspects in connection with an alleged cyber and telecommunication fraud operation involving the use of SIM boxes, authorities said.
The suspects — Timileyin Fakunle, 30; Begun Adedeji, 31; and Olamide Roheemot, 28 — were arrested on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2026, at separate apartments across the Accra region.
According to police, searches conducted at the suspects’ residences led to the recovery of sophisticated electronic devices, SIM boxes, and multiple SIM cards, which investigators believe were used in fraudulent activities.
During interrogation, the suspects allegedly identified two additional accomplices, known as Mike and Kpalumi, who remain at large. Police also said the group is believed to be led by a Chinese national identified as “Tomy,” who allegedly operates remotely and is also currently at large.
Authorities said they are working with the National Communications Authority (NCA) to safely remove and conduct technical examinations on the seized equipment to support the ongoing investigation.
The suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue. The Accra Regional Police Command urged the public to exercise caution when renting or subletting properties and to conduct proper background checks on tenants.
“Property owners and residents are advised to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the Police,” the Command said, reaffirming its commitment to combating cybercrime and telecommunications-related offenses.
