Two days after a property dealer was shot dead in North East Delhi’s Shastri Park, police arrested three men in connection with the case.
The accused have been identified as Rehman, Adil, and Ayan, who are allegedly associated with gangster Washim Hasmat.
The incident occurred around 11:25 pm on January 24 near the Buland Masjid area, when the Shastri Park police received information about a firing. The victim, Sameer alias Mustaqeem alias Kammu Pehalwan, a resident of Buland Masjid, was rushed to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital by family members, where doctors declared him dead.
According to police, Sameer had stepped out for a short walk after dinner, having earlier taken his young daughter to a doctor. While he reached Bihari Chowk, a short distance from his home, he received a phone call. Four assailants allegedly arrived on foot, surrounded him, and opened fire.
Following a tip-off from a secret informer, police laid a trap near Ajmal Khan Park in Sector-28, Rohini. Around 11:45 pm, a white scooty carrying three men was intercepted. When signalled to stop, the suspects opened fire at the police team but were overpowered and arrested.
The investigation is ongoing to determine the full network of assailants and the motive behind the targeted killing.
