Police Arrest Three for Robbing Mourners in Kisumu; Fuel Attendant Killed in Meru Robbery Attempt

KISUMU, Kenya – Police have arrested three individuals suspected of robbing mourners during a vigil in Daraja Mbili, Mayatta B, Kisumu County, on July 25, 2025.

According to a statement from the National Police Service (NPS) shared via social media, armed robbers targeted the homestead of the late Susan Achieng’ Otieno. A distress call from one of the mourners led to a rapid response from Kasagam Police Station officers on foot patrol.

With assistance from the community, three suspects were arrested. A blue TVS motorcycle (Registration No. KMFK 840L) was recovered at the scene. Police confirmed that several accomplices escaped and are being pursued.

“The NPS commends the community’s vigilance and urges anyone with information to aid in the arrest of the remaining suspects,” the statement read.
