Three Arrested for Job Fraud Promising Fake Israel Employment

Scam targets job seekers with forged documents, fake offers

by Ananya Mehta

The Commissionerate police have arrested three men accused of duping job seekers by promising false employment opportunities in Israel.

The arrested individuals include Babulahari Gouda from Odisha, and his associates Mahesh Ramchandra Lokhande and Kiran Shashikant Ghumre from Mumbai. They allegedly lured victims using fake advertisements and forged official-looking documents.

Victims were asked to pay an initial amount of Rs 5,000 and an additional Rs 70,000 once a fraudulent job offer letter was issued. A complaint by Sunil Kumar Sah, Protector of Emigrants, Bhubaneswar, under the Ministry of External Affairs, led to the arrests.

Investigations confirmed the accused lacked legal authorization for recruitment and were operating illegally. Police seized resumes, fake documents, and mobile phones as evidence.

Authorities have warned job seekers to verify recruitment agencies carefully before making any payments to avoid falling prey to such scams.
