Nirmal police have apprehended a three-member gang involved in multiple burglaries targeting jewellery outlets across the district. The suspects—Raju Singh Mohan Singh Bhavari, Sevak Singh Raghuveer Singh, and Surdeep Singh Johny—all daily-wage earners from Umri, Maharashtra, were arrested and significant stolen goods were recovered.
During the operation, police seized 2.7 kilograms of silver, 17 grams of gold, Rs 2,700 in cash, and a motorcycle used during the crimes.
According to Superintendent of Police Dr. Janaki Sharmila, the trio targeted jewellery stores in Nirmal by breaking open the shutters, usually traveling at night on bikes. Upon interrogation, they confessed that their motivation was driven by liquor addiction and a desire for a lavish lifestyle beyond their daily wage earnings.
The accused admitted to committing numerous thefts across various parts of the district over an extended period. They confessed their dissatisfaction with their income pushed them toward crime.
A special police team led by Soan Inspector G Govardhan Reddy played a crucial role in tracking and arresting the accused.
