n a major breakthrough, the Commissionerate Police in Bhubaneswar arrested three prime suspects, including a woman, in connection with the brutal murder of Sahadev Nayak on National Highway-16 near Rasulgarh on Wednesday morning.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Laxmidhara Naik, Rocky Naik, and Lipika Naik, all residents of Kedarpalli and nearby areas in Nayagarh district. They were apprehended by a special police team from Saranakula, Nayagarh.

While the exact motive behind the murder remains unclear, sources suggest that it may be linked to illegal drug peddling. Authorities believe that the three accused targeted Sahadev Nayak after he opposed their drug-related activities. The victim, a ‘Police Mitra’, had reportedly informed the authorities about the suspects’ involvement in the drug trade, which led to previous arrests and jail time for the accused.

After being released on bail, the accused held a grudge and executed a plan to eliminate Sahadev. The police had previously identified the prime suspects and detained them for questioning, with Bhubaneswar DCP Pinak Mishra confirming that the three detained individuals were being investigated.

This tragic incident is suspected to be the result of an old enmity tied to the illegal activities of the accused.
