Chennai police have arrested four individuals, including a restaurant manager, for allegedly defrauding a private eatery in Thousand Lights of over Rs24 lakh. Authorities also seized a car and seven mobile phones in connection with the case.
The complaint was filed by Syed Danish (27) of Purasawalkam, who has been operating a restaurant on 3rd Street, Wallace Garden, Nungambakkam, along with his friends since January 5, 2024. While reviewing the restaurant accounts, Danish discovered that the manager, Mohammed Paris Rahuman (26) of Malappuram, Kerala, along with others, had allegedly manipulated bill amounts and diverted payments via QR codes, committing fraud of more than Rs24 lakh.
Following the complaint, the Crime Wing of the Thousand Lights Police Station registered a case and launched an investigation. The probe led to the arrests of:
Mohammed Paris Rahuman (26) – Manager, Malappuram, Kerala
Mohammed Hanif (23) – Vellore
Ryan Ahamed (21) – Vellore
Boobalan (23) – Washermenpet
All four accused have been remanded in judicial custody, and further investigations into the fraud are ongoing.
