POUGHKEEPSIE – A 44-year-old man from Pleasant Valley is scheduled for sentencing today in Dutchess County Court for a violent domestic assault that occurred in January 2024.
Thomas Zemko surrendered to State Police on January 29, 2024, following a joint investigation involving the State Police, Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, and Town of Poughkeepsie Police.
The investigation revealed Zemko committed multiple acts of physical violence during a domestic incident on January 10, 2024, which resulted in serious injuries to the victim. He faced initial charges including four felony assault counts, five felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon, felony unlawful imprisonment, and misdemeanor menacing. The grand jury indicted him on nine felonies and three misdemeanors, with the primary charge being felony assault with intent to cause disfigurement or dismemberment.
Initially pleading not guilty to all charges, Zemko agreed to a plea deal on April 9, 2025, pleading guilty to the top assault charge. He admitted to using a razor to cut the victim’s face from above her left eye down her cheek.
Following the plea, Dutchess County Court Judge Jessica Segal ordered Zemko held in Dutchess County Jail pending sentencing.
