Thomas Wooten Arrested in Hiawassee Fentanyl Possession Case

Traffic stop leads to fentanyl charge and license violation

HIAWASSEE, Ga. — A Hiawassee man is facing multiple charges after a traffic stop led to the discovery of fentanyl, according to the Towns County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO).

Thomas Brandon Wooten, 35, was pulled over Monday while deputies were patrolling areas known for drug activity. During the stop, deputies discovered a container holding a substance that field-tested positive for fentanyl.

Wooten was arrested and charged with:

Felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (fentanyl)

Driving while license suspended or revoked (misdemeanor)

Missing tail lights (misdemeanor)

He was taken into custody and remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office.
