CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. — A man was taken into custody after deputies executed a search warrant at his home and reported finding illegal drugs and items associated with drug distribution.

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office said its Narcotics Unit carried out the search on Friday at the residence of Thomas Clemens. The operation was assisted by SWAT, traffic enforcement and community policing units.

During the search, detectives reported discovering crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia, multiple scales and plastic baggies consistent with drug sales. Authorities said Clemens was arrested at the scene.

Deputies also stated that while Clemens was being detained, additional crack cocaine was found in his front pocket.

Clemens faces charges of possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting an officer without violence. The investigation remains ongoing.
