BATH, N.Y. — A 26-year-old Bath man, Thomas B. Stark, was arrested following a high-speed chase on State Route 415, during which he allegedly threatened deputies by claiming to have a bomb.
According to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, Stark was driving over 100 miles per hour through the towns of Campbell and Bath while intoxicated and with a suspended or revoked driver’s license. The incident escalated when deputies attempted to stop Stark in the Village of Savona, but he fled the traffic stop.
K9 Tripp helped track down Stark during the pursuit. Upon his apprehension, Stark allegedly made a terroristic threat by stating he had a bomb, leading to additional serious charges.
Stark faces multiple charges, including Making a Terroristic Threat (Class D felony), Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the Third Degree, Speeding, Consuming Alcohol While Operating a Vehicle, and Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree.
He was arraigned in Centralized Arraignment Court and held on $1 cash bail before appearing in Bath Town Court on June 11, where he was released.
As with all criminal cases, Stark is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
