A third suspect was arrested on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from Nadia district, West Bengal, by the State police Special Task Force (STF) in connection with the murder of popular Bangladesh leader Osman Hadi.
So far, three men have been apprehended from West Bengal. Two of them are directly accused of committing the murder, while the third assisted the killers in escaping.
The STF reported that during initial questioning, Philip Sangma admitted to acting as a border tout, facilitating illegal migrants to cross from Haluaghat in Bangladesh to Dalupara in Meghalaya, India, in exchange for money. He also confessed to helping the two accused in Hadi’s murder case, Faisal and Alamgir, to enter India.
Authorities continue to investigate the case, emphasizing the cross-border dimension of the crime and the role of facilitators like Sangma in enabling such incidents.
