In a shocking turn of events, a thief managed to steal a police patrol vehicle, known as a “Cheetah,” right outside the Dhanvantri Nagar police station in Jabalpur on October 15. The thief took advantage of the officers’ busy duties and drove off with the patrol bike, which is primarily used by law enforcement to curb street crimes and quickly respond to emergencies.
The entire incident was captured on CCTV, clearly showing the suspect in the act. Authorities have initiated a probe into the theft and are reviewing the footage to track down the culprit. The police are hopeful of identifying the thief soon and bringing him to justice.
In another case, Jabalpur police have arrested Narendra Tomar, the operator of Hal Agri Farmer Producer Company Ltd. (FPO), for defrauding over 110 farmers to the tune of Rs1.68 crore. The scam dates back to 2023 when the FPO purchased 5,078 bags of chickpeas from local farmers at the Mayank Warehouse. However, upon inspection, the chickpeas were found to be substandard, and the FPO was supposed to return them to the farmers.
Instead of returning the goods, Tomar allegedly submitted falsified receipts to the Agriculture Department, falsely claiming that the chickpeas had been returned. In total, 3,162 quintals of chickpeas worth Rs1.68 crore were never returned to the farmers. The farmers eventually filed a complaint with the district collector, who instructed the Agriculture Department to take action. The complaint led to the arrest of Narendra Tomar, and further investigations are underway.
