LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) — An 18-year-old is behind bars following a gun-related incident outside Estacado High School on Monday morning.
Therron Hastings Jr. has been charged with:
Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon
Exhibiting a firearm on school grounds or a school bus
Unlawfully carrying a weapon in a prohibited place
According to a Lubbock ISD spokesperson, school district police officers acted swiftly, locating and detaining Hastings with the firearm before any harm occurred.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported. However, the school district has not confirmed whether Hastings is a current student, citing an ongoing investigation being handled by the LISD Police Department.
Hastings is currently booked at the Lubbock County Detention Center with a total bond set at $50,000.
