The police have arrested a man in connection with a theft at a bungalow in the Simrol area of Dhar district. The accused, identified as Dinesh alias Dhirpia Dabar, was apprehended after investigators linked him to the theft of Rs 6.7 lakh from a bungalow owned by Suresh Deshmukh in the Veda Homes area.
The theft took place on November 17, when the thieves, having carefully surveyed the area beforehand, broke into the bungalow. The investigation, which included examining CCTV footage and technical evidence, led police to discover that Dinesh hails from Tanda in Dhar district. A police team was dispatched to Khanihamba village in Tanda, where Dinesh was arrested.
Initially, Dinesh attempted to mislead the police, but eventually confessed to his involvement in the crime. During his interrogation, he revealed that he and his accomplices had targeted the bungalow after observing that a woman lived there alone during the daytime and that the windows lacked security grills.
On the day of the theft, the suspects gained access to the bungalow and stole Rs 6.7 lakh in cash. Upon discovering the theft, Deshmukh’s wife immediately informed her husband, who then filed a complaint with the police. The investigation revealed that Dinesh was part of a group of five accomplices, and efforts are ongoing to track down the other suspects and recover the remaining stolen money.
Dinesh’s arrest has led to further inquiries, with police working to identify his accomplices and determine whether other thefts have been committed by the group. The victim, Suresh Deshmukh, works as an officer at a company in Pithampur and was away at work when the incident occurred.
