In a major operation, the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of Thane Police seized more than 1.1 kg of mephedrone (MD) worth Rs. 2.2 crore and 44 kg of ganja valued at Rs. 22 lakh in three separate raids. The police arrested seven individuals in connection with the drug busts.
The operation was initiated following a tip-off received by Constable Amol Desai, leading to three successful raids. The first raid took place in the Shil-Daighar area, where police searched a flat in Chetan Apartment and seized the mephedrone, arresting three individuals: Ilias Khan (19), Aman Khan (21), both from Rajasthan, and Saif Ali Khan (25), a local resident. The drugs were reportedly manufactured outside Maharashtra and smuggled into the state for distribution.
In a separate raid, the police seized 44 kg of ganja worth Rs. 22.8 lakh in Ambernath’s Bhoirnagar area, arresting Mangal Pawar (25) and Amar Pawar (36) for their involvement in the trafficking. Earlier in the week, another operation in Ulhasnagar led to the seizure of 58.1 grams of MD worth Rs. 11.7 lakh, with two local residents, Aarif Khan (21) and Safiquar Ahmed Khan (22), arrested.
The successful raids were led by Senior Police Inspector Rahul Mhaske under the supervision of Additional Commissioner Punjabrao Ugale and Deputy Commissioner Amarsingh Jadhav, with a continued crackdown on drug trafficking in the region.
