In a major breakthrough, Thane Police arrested five individuals from Kerala in connection with a Rs30 lakh robbery that took place on February 21. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), Amarsingh Jadhav, shared details of the arrest in a press briefing.
The robbery occurred when an employee of a private Mumbai-based firm was ambushed by four men in a parking lot near Thane railway station. The attackers fled with a bag containing Rs30 lakh in cash. The victim promptly filed a police complaint, initiating a swift investigation.
Using CCTV footage and other leads, investigators tracked the suspects to Kerala. The arrested individuals include Vignesh Poken K (31) and Suhat Moinuddin Khoya TP (31) from Calicut, Prabuldev Premkumar Pullivata (25) and Akil Krishna PV (27) from Coonoor, and Subilesh K Balakrishnan (32) from Kozhikode. Police recovered Rs7.5 lakh in cash and two iPhones worth Rs3 lakh bought with the stolen money. The suspects are in police custody until April 19.
In a separate case, Kalamboli Police arrested four men involved in a late-night highway robbery on April 13. The incident took place near Roadpali signal around 1 a.m. when Swapnil Sakpal (33) was assaulted while traveling from Mahad to Kamothe. The attackers, riding a KTM and a Pulsar, beat him and stole his cash.
Acting swiftly, police chased the suspects to Kopra village in Kharghar and successfully apprehended all four accused, ensuring justice was served swiftly in both cases.
