Thane Police Arrest Sumit Kumawat with Rs2.38 Crore Drugs

Over 2 Kg Ganja and Ecstasy Seized in Mumbra Drug Bust

The Anti-Narcotics Cell of Thane Police arrested a 21-year-old man, Sumit Rajkumar Kumawat, for allegedly possessing over 2 kilograms of hybrid ganja and 19 MDMA (Ecstasy) tablets, valued at approximately Rs2.38 crore.

Kumawat, a resident of Borivali and originally from Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, was intercepted near the old toll naka on Bypass Road, Mumbra, on August 24 after a tip-off from a reliable informer.

Acting swiftly, Police Constable Amit Desai alerted his seniors and laid a trap. During the search, the police recovered the contraband as described.

Sumit Kumawat was taken to Mumbra Police Station for questioning. An FIR was registered under the NDPS Act, and he was later produced in court, where he was remanded to police custody until September 4 for further investigation.
