PHUKET — The drug-dealing days of Thanabat “Bank” Nomsaksiri, 30, came to an end on June 19, after police raided his home in Village 2, Rawai, seizing methamphetamines, a firearm, and ammunition.
Led by Police Lieutenant Colonel Phichit Thongto from the Narcotics Suppression Division of Phuket Provincial Police, the raid uncovered 171 methamphetamine pills, 6.2 grams of crystal meth, a 9mm Smith & Wesson pistol, and 24 bullets of mixed calibres.
Also seized were drug paraphernalia, a digital scale, a drug ledger, and a Samsung Galaxy A16, believed to have been used to coordinate drug sales.
Thanabat was arrested without resistance at the scene and charged with multiple offenses, including:
Possession of Category 1 narcotics with intent to sell
Illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition
Use of illegal drugs
He was transported to Chalong Police Station for further questioning. Authorities suspect Thanabat was operating independently, supplying meth within Rawai and possibly to other areas on the island.
The operation was part of an ongoing effort to combat drug-related crime in Phuket, especially near tourist zones, where maintaining public safety is a key concern for local authorities.
The discovery of a drug ledger and digital scale suggests a structured dealing operation rather than casual use or possession.
Police are now investigating possible connections to wider drug distribution networks and additional suspects involved in the local drug trade.
“This case shows our commitment to tackling crime at every level,” said a Phuket police spokesperson. “We’re targeting not only users, but also dealers—especially those armed and embedded in residential communities.”
