In a major crackdown, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police in Mangaluru arrested two individuals and seized a substantial quantity of illegal drugs, including hydroweed cannabis, regular cannabis, and charas worth approximately Rs8 lakh.
The arrested have been identified as:
Thaizeer Ismail Hussain (23), a resident of Pandeshwar, Mangaluru
Royston Xavier Lobo (23), a resident of Shivabagh, Mangaluru
According to police officials, the two were apprehended during a targeted operation, following credible intelligence about their involvement in the illegal drug trade. The seized substances—hydroweed, a high-potency form of cannabis, along with charas and regular cannabis—are all banned under the NDPS Act.
The value of the seized drugs is estimated at Rs8 lakh in the illegal market. The arrest highlights the continued efforts of the Mangaluru CCB in curbing urban narcotics distribution, especially among youth.
Further investigation is ongoing to determine the source of the drugs, potential links to trafficking networks, and whether more individuals are involved in the supply chain.
