Texas Woman Amanda Sparks Arrested in $1.3M Aggregate Theft Case

A&L Sheds Owner Accused of Deceptive Transactions and Fraud

HOUSTON – A Texas woman has been arrested in connection with a large-scale theft case after numerous victims filed complaints in Harris County. Amanda Sparks, the owner of A&L Sheds, is accused of stealing large sums of money from customers under false pretenses, leading to her arrest following a thorough investigation by local authorities.

The case, which has garnered significant attention in the community, centers around the theft of over $1.3 million from multiple victims, including Jerene Buckles. In June 2023, Buckles, a mother of nine, made a deposit of $35,000 for a custom-built tiny home from A&L Sheds to replace the one her family lost in a devastating fire. Unfortunately, like others who entered similar arrangements, Buckles never received the promised home or a refund, despite repeated assurances that the issue would be resolved.

What began as a hopeful promise of a 3,600-square-foot log cabin quickly turned to disappointment. As the investigation progressed, it became evident that Sparks had been involved in a series of deceptive transactions, leading to multiple allegations of theft. Victims like Buckles struggled with the lack of refunds and no progress on their homes, with Sparks allegedly misappropriating large sums of money, further compounding the severity of the charges against her.

This case marks the first major prosecution under the Harris County District Attorney’s Stay Scam Free Harris County Initiative. The charges against Sparks, related to aggregate theft, have been formally accepted, and the County Attorney’s office stressed the seriousness of the crime due to the significant financial and emotional toll on the victims.

“I was devastated. This was supposed to be our new beginning after losing everything,” said Jerene Buckles, whose family continues to wait for a resolution. “We trusted the company and the people involved, and now we’re left with nothing but broken promises.”

The investigation into Sparks began last year, and since then, several other victims have come forward with similar stories. More than 140 individuals are listed as victims, with many having paid large sums for homes that were never built. Some have taken their cases to small claims court, but widespread lack of response or resolution has added to the frustration.

Sparks now faces multiple charges in Harris County, and authorities continue to investigate the full scope of her alleged actions. With the DA’s office moving forward with the case, victims like Buckles remain hopeful that justice will be served, but the emotional and financial damage caused by Sparks’ actions remains a heavy burden for the families involved.

As the legal process advances, residents affected by the alleged theft are seeking closure and restitution, with hopes that the Harris County legal system will provide the resolution they have long awaited.
