HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — Katrina Bledsoe, a Harris County woman, stands accused of stealing $53,000 in an identity fraud scheme while out on bond for similar charges.

According to court documents, in the spring of 2020, Bledsoe approached a woman named Denita Forges, offering her a job caring for Bledsoe’s disabled daughter. Forges provided Bledsoe with her personal information, including her Social Security number and driver’s license, for employment purposes. However, after receiving the information, Bledsoe cut off contact with Forges.

Fast forward to March 2025, when Forges was laid off and applied for unemployment benefits. The Texas Workforce Commission flagged $53,000 in payments sent to Forges, inquiring if she had been working as a home health nurse and receiving paychecks. Forges denied the claims, prompting an investigation.

The Harris County Constables Office Precinct 5 determined that Bledsoe had used Forges’s information to fraudulently collect the unemployment checks. Bledsoe was arrested Thursday and is now facing charges of fraud and theft.

This is not Bledsoe’s first encounter with the law. She has a history of criminal charges in Harris, Fort Bend, and Brazoria counties, including previous convictions for fraud and forgery. Additionally, at the time of this alleged crime, Bledsoe was out on bond for a similar fraud case from 2019 in Fort Bend County.

Bledsoe’s bond has been set, and she remains in jail as of now.
