Texas Law Enforcement Breaks Up Ford Truck Taillight Theft Ring

Organized Crime Ring Targeting Luxury Ford F-Series Taillights Busted by Police

by Sophia Bennett

Texas law enforcement has issued a warning to Ford F-series truck owners after dismantling an organized crime ring targeting luxury vehicles. The three suspects—Jimmy Dean Miller, Jaleel D. Fasion, and Sergio Giovanni Sanfilippo—are charged with engaging in organized criminal activity, following a series of taillight thefts that totaled over $92,000.

The crime spree, which occurred between September 2024 and January 2025, involved the theft of taillights from high-end Ford trucks, mostly F-350s, between Houston and Galveston. According to police, these luxury taillights are equipped with costly sensors, making them highly sought after in the black market.

The thieves were able to quickly remove the taillights by simply unscrewing them, often taking less than a minute. Investigators believe the stolen parts were sold on online marketplaces like Facebook Marketplace, with some truck owners even unknowingly purchasing their own stolen taillights.

To protect their vehicles, police urge Ford truck owners to consider using aftermarket tailgate locks or marking their taillights with identifying numbers. While these measures can help deter theft, truck owners should check with dealerships to ensure any additions don’t affect their warranties.

The Webster Police Department, along with local agencies, apprehended the suspects after an extensive investigation. While Fasion has been released, Sanfilippo is out on bond, and charges against Miller may be refiled through a grand jury.
