A Texas father, Daniel Schwarz, has pleaded guilty to manslaughter following the tragic death of his 8-year-old adopted daughter. Schwarz, 48, was sentenced to 18 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice after admitting to the role he played in the child’s death.
The incident occurred on August 29, 2020, when law enforcement responded to a medical emergency involving the young girl. Investigators revealed that Daniel and his wife, Ashley Schwarz, had forced their daughter to jump on a trampoline for an extended period as punishment, without food or water. The trampoline’s surface temperature reached approximately 110 degrees at the time.
Ashley Schwarz had been convicted of capital murder in May 2023 and sentenced to life in prison without parole. Ector County officials praised the efforts of prosecutors and the Odessa Police Department in securing justice for the victim.
