Jay Freeman and Loren Jones Accused of Five-Year Scam

by Sophia Bennett

TEXARKANA, Texas — Two Texarkana employees have been arrested for allegedly stealing more than $400,000 from Gregg Orr Marine over a five-year period.

After a six-month investigation, the Texarkana Texas Police Department identified Jay Freeman, 43, the manager, and Loren Jones, 34, the office manager, as the suspects. Authorities say the pair manipulated company finances to divert funds for their own gain.

Detectives worked closely with other employees to uncover the scheme, obtain warrants, and carry out the arrests on March 25. Both Freeman and Jones were booked into Bi-State Jail and released the same day on $75,000 bonds.

Each is charged with theft of property exceeding $300,000.
