OROVILLE, Calif. — A routine traffic stop led to the arrest of two Oroville residents on drug charges early Saturday morning.
At approximately 12:32 a.m. on August 2, a Butte County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) deputy noticed a black Ford Ranger exiting a Chevron gas station on 3rd Street with no headlights or taillights illuminated, violating California Vehicle Code. A records check also revealed the vehicle’s registration was expired.
The deputy initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver as 45-year-old Terry Greer of Oroville, who was found to have a suspended driver’s license. The passenger was identified as 45-year-old Lisa Waits, also from Oroville.
During the stop, deputies discovered approximately 142 grams of methamphetamine and packaging materials indicative of narcotics sales. The quantity of methamphetamine exceeded amounts typically associated with personal use.
Greer was arrested on felony charges of transportation and possession of a controlled substance for sale. Waits was also arrested on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance for sale. Both suspects were booked into the Butte County Jail.
Their cases will be forwarded to the Butte County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
