On April 16, 2025, the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) received multiple reports about a man soliciting money under false pretenses. The man, later identified as Terry Allen Damstra of Grayson, Georgia, approached local businesses asking for donations for magazine and coloring book ads—claiming the funds would benefit law enforcement.
According to witnesses, Damstra falsely represented himself as being affiliated with the Sheriff’s Office. He wore a black hat with the word “SHERIFF” embroidered in bright yellow and a pullover-style shirt bearing “Bulloch County Sheriff’s Department” on the chest.
BCSO launched an investigation and made contact with Damstra on April 17. He was arrested and charged with 15 felony counts of Impersonating a Public Official/Officer and one misdemeanor count of Possession of Marijuana.
Authorities confirmed that Damstra is not employed by or connected in any way to the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office. The company he was allegedly representing is based in Texas.
Sheriff Noel Brown expressed gratitude to the community for quickly reporting the suspicious activity. He also reminded residents to stay vigilant against impersonators and scams, encouraging anyone with concerns to contact the Sheriff’s Office immediately.
