LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) — A Lynchburg woman has admitted to embezzling over $2.6 million from a local company over a span of more than five years.

Teresa Proffitt pleaded guilty on Monday to a single count of felony embezzlement after authorities determined she misappropriated funds from Davis-Frost between January 1, 2018, and May 31, 2023.

According to the Lynchburg Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, Proffitt’s plea deal included the nolle prosequi (dismissal without prejudice) of 10 other counts, which were merged with the single felony charge. However, no agreement has been reached regarding her sentencing.

During the hearing, prosecutor Nathan Freier introduced evidence showing the total amount embezzled was $2,644,146.62.

Sentencing has been scheduled for October 1, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. in Lynchburg Circuit Court.
