LEONARDTOWN, Md. — State’s Attorney Jaymi Sterling announced that 29-year-old Terek Demaury Ross of Lexington Park has been sentenced to life in prison, with 50 years of active incarceration, following his conviction on two counts of attempted first-degree murder.
On August 3, 2024, Ross forcibly entered his ex-girlfriend’s home and attacked her and a houseguest with a knife. One victim sustained multiple stab wounds, including a severe injury behind her ear, but escaped upstairs to call 911. The second victim, asleep on the couch, was stabbed multiple times and suffered serious injuries to her right eye and left arm.
After the attack, Ross stole one victim’s vehicle and fled, but was apprehended later the same day in Calvert County. Both victims were airlifted to trauma centers and received emergency life-saving care.
“This was one of the most brutal acts of domestic violence in our community,” said State’s Attorney Sterling. “While no sentence can undo the harm caused, this 50-year prison term aims to deliver justice and safety for the victims and our community.”
Detectives Andrew Burgess, David Lawrence, and Deputy Alexander Tasciotti led the investigation. Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Lisa Ridge prosecuted the case before the Honorable Joseph Stanalonis.
