SCOTTSBORO, Ala. — A Tennessee man has been charged with murder following a fatal crash in Jackson County.
28-year-old Triston McCarver of South Pittsburg was booked Thursday after a Jackson County Grand Jury indicted him in December.
The indictment states McCarver engaged in conduct showing extreme indifference to human life, causing a crash that killed Kristin Moore, also of South Pittsburg. Court records indicate McCarver was allegedly driving under the influence and/or at an excessively high rate of speed at the time of the crash.
Limited details about the date or location of the crash are available. Obituary records confirm Moore passed away in July of last year.
McCarver is scheduled to appear in court Monday for an Aniah’s Law hearing, which is designed to review cases involving violent crimes against children, but can also apply to other serious felony cases under Alabama law.
